Description

A quick and flavorful one-pan meal featuring tender steak bites and seasoned rice cooked in a garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pat the steak cubes dry and season with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak bites in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side until deeply browned. Transfer the steak to a plate.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Stir in the diced onion and red bell pepper and cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the rice, onion powder, and dried thyme. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring to coat the rice in the seasoned butter.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  7. Return the seared steak bites to the skillet and gently fold them into the rice. Cover and cook for another 3–5 minutes until the steak is warmed through.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and additional cracked black pepper before serving.

Notes

  • Use sirloin or flank steak for best results.
  • Let steak sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • Adjust broth as needed for rice texture.
