Description
A quick and flavorful one-pan meal featuring tender steak bites and seasoned rice cooked in a garlic butter sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 1/2 cups long-grain white rice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 small red bell pepper, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Pat the steak cubes dry and season with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
- Heat the olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak bites in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side until deeply browned. Transfer the steak to a plate.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Stir in the diced onion and red bell pepper and cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the rice, onion powder, and dried thyme. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring to coat the rice in the seasoned butter.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Return the seared steak bites to the skillet and gently fold them into the rice. Cover and cook for another 3–5 minutes until the steak is warmed through.
- Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and additional cracked black pepper before serving.
Notes
- Use sirloin or flank steak for best results.
- Let steak sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking.
- Adjust broth as needed for rice texture.
