- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, undrained
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup pineapple juice (from canned pineapple)
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix cake mix, crushed pineapple with juice, eggs, and vegetable oil until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While cake is still warm, poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon.
- In a bowl, mix sugar and pineapple juice, then slowly pour over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in.
- Let cake cool completely.
- Spread whipped topping evenly over the cake.
- Top with pineapple chunks and maraschino cherries.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use fresh pineapple instead of canned.
- Chilling the cake makes it easier to slice.
