- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, plus more for garnish
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the rotini according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it into crumbles, until browned and cooked through.
- Add the sliced onion, red bell pepper, and yellow bell pepper. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the garlic, Italian seasoning, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes.
- Add the butter, heavy cream, and chicken broth. Stir and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Mix in the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
- Add the cooked rotini and toss until fully coated in the sauce.
- Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until everything is hot and creamy.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and extra red pepper flakes before serving.
