  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • For the topping:
  • 1/4 cup walnut halves
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 small banana, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line an 8×4-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir just until combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Arrange the banana slices on top, then sprinkle with the walnut halves, extra chocolate chips, and brown sugar.
  8. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  9. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool before slicing.
