Easy and rich chocolate cake bars with a smooth chocolate frosting.
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- For the Chocolate Frosting:
- 1 cup milk chocolate, melted
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp butter
- Crushed pistachios or shredded coconut, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix sugar, oil, eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients until fully combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- For frosting, melt chocolate with cream and butter until smooth and glossy.
- Spread frosting over cooled cake and sprinkle with pistachios or coconut.
- Chill slightly, then slice into bars and serve.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For a firmer frosting, chill the cake before slicing.
