A rich and creamy butter chicken recipe that’s easy to make at home. This Indian-inspired dish features tender chicken in a flavorful tomato and cream sauce.

- 1 ½ lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh chopped cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and sauté until soft and lightly golden.
- Stir in garlic and ginger; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add chicken pieces, season with salt and pepper, and cook until lightly browned.
- Sprinkle in garam masala, paprika, cumin, coriander, and chili powder. Stir well.
- Pour in tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream until smooth and creamy.
- Simmer for another 5 minutes until chicken is fully cooked and sauce thickens.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with basmati rice and naan.
Notes
- Adjust chili powder to control spiciness.
- For a thicker sauce, simmer longer.
- Chicken can be marinated in yogurt and spices beforehand for extra flavor.
