- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced into rings
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, plus more for serving
Instructions
- Toss the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and salt. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
- Sear the beef in a skillet for 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the onion rings in the skillet for 4-5 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Cook for 30 seconds.
- Return beef to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and simmer for 2-4 minutes until thickened.
- Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.
