  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced into rings
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, plus more for serving

Instructions

  2. Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  3. Sear the beef in a skillet for 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. Cook the onion rings in the skillet for 4-5 minutes until softened.

  6. Return beef to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and simmer for 2-4 minutes until thickened.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly for best texture.
  • Adjust black pepper to taste for more heat.
